Making Mother’s Day special with little ones

When I Became Your Mummy

This title has previously been published in paperback, but alas it has now also become available as a board book which is awesome because the chunkier form makes it perfect for babies and toddlers to enjoy, and what better occasion to unveil it then Mother’s Day! Mums and Mums-to-be will be so touched by being gifted this book, and it has all the elements to ensure it is one of those books that is cherished in the way us parents do with the sentimental items that link to our children. My children are all grown up now but if I had of been gifted this when they were little it would still be in my possession on my bookcase of those books I have never parted with since they became mine, nor will I.

The front cover is gorgeous, with a soft paletted colour scheme and a spring vibe coming through, and the depiction of mum and baby rabbit, what more could you ask for? It is stunning. The foil detailing to the flowers, grass tufts, and sun give the book the perfect finishing touch to the cover design to give the book that this is a special gift vibe. The book goes straight into depicting the strong bond between a mum and baby via the adorable rabbit duo, with gorgeous natural landscapes featuring in the background and lots of floral detail to the design too.

I am a huge fan of the rhyming sentences that are used within as the lyrical flow that comes from this style gives the content all the more of a sentimental feel to it, and thus it resonates with the reader emotionally as intended too. The idea of this book being shared with new mums and their little ones, all cuddled up and snuggling together on Mother’s Day evening pre bedtime, is exactly what this book is deserving of. It is a book to be cherished and loved in the same way we do our children, and that parralel is what makes it evident this book is so perfect,

When I became your mummy,

and you cuddled close to me…

…I knew right from that moment

just how strong our love would be.

Through the beautifully illustrated scenes we are given a visual representation of that which is being referred to in text form, with the rabbits interacting with the landscape around them including sheltering together during a storm, and the combination of gorgeous illustrations and such beautiful words that evoke the feelings and emotions a mother has for her child this truly is one of those books where every full rhyming sentences hits home in exactly the way that if we could say the way we feel about our child/children to them in a way that truly does it justice and they would fully understand it all from our perspective it would be in the form we are seeing right here in this book, and it being available in board book format now means that the versatility of allowing little hands to hold and explore it without having to concern ourselves with the potential for damage occuring means this book will be one that gets shared between a mum and her little one(s) over and over again, being popular with with both parties in equal measure.

I Love You to the Moon and Back (2 Book Set)

The two modern classics I Love You to the Moon and Back and I Love You Forever and a Day have been combined into this beautiful two book slipcase set that is absolutely perfect for Mother’s Day gifting from little ones, and for this stunning duo of books to get enjoyed at bedtime by Mum’s (and Dad’s too of course) and their special little ones. It goes without saying that this set would also make for the perfect baby shower gift for mum’s-to-be too, and whatever the occasion there is nothing but love being shared through these beautiful additions to your libraries.

We get to join Big Bear and Little Bear as the love and incredible bond between them is reflected through everything they do, and from start to end these books are utterly beautiful. As a fan of Guess How Much I Love You (and this title being a go to for gifting to parents to be) I get the same intent and sentiment from these two beautiful books, where the words echo how we feel not only when we first become a parent, but also for every day and each new phase we enter with our respective little people. We love our child(ren) with every fibre of our being, and would and do protect them with our lives, with their welfare and wellbeing being paramount to us, and all of that is reflected inside this book through the most beauitfully perfect verse, with stunning illustrations to compliment the text too.

As someone who is frequently asked for the perfect gift idea for various occasions, age groups, and interests I love finding those opportunities to ensure that I suggest that perfect title that will resonate as hoped by the person doing the gifting, and this beautiful two book slipcase set is emblazened in my memory for a host of occasions – Mother’s Day, Baby Showers, and even for those just becasuse occasions when Mum could do with remembering she is loved as much as she loves too. It is so nice to see these two titles combined into a set, and in a nice size for changing bags, nursing chair areas, and those adorable small book displays made from ikea spice racks (yes, those are a thing and they look fab in a baby’s nursery), and I can see these being a cherished title by those in receipt of them, and a go to purchase for those looking for the perfect gift.

  • Both of these suggested books are available to buy from all good booksellers.
  • Additional titles perfect for Mother’s Day can be found on my recent post here.
