Gift Ideas for Babies and Toddlers this Christmas (Part One)

Reindeer! Reindeer! What can you see?

Little ones will delight at this book which offers interactive opportunities throughout with the flaps on each two page spread, and a mirror to conclude the adventure which serves to include your little one themselves – something they are always excited and enthralled by. The use of repetition with the phrase “Reindeer! Reindeer! What can you see?” and the corresponding rhyming sentence that details the specifics of what/where Reindeer will need to look makes this such a beautiful reading experience, and the repetition allows little ones to get familiar with the words easier, so they in turn will read them to you before long. Reindeer looks in a host of places and finds many festive themed things as a result including an Elf and a Snowman, all of which awaits little ones finding behind the large flaps – making it light work for little fingers.

We have had lots of fun with this book, and it helped to teach little ones many festive objects they will see in the coming weeks, and always there are BIG smiles into the mirror from little ones at the end. I love that this is book 6 in the series to date, so if you are looking to gift a fabulous bundle to a special little one the other titles are :

  • Little Hen! Little Hen! What Can You See?
  • Elephant! Elephant! What Can You See?
  • Ladybird! Ladybird! What Can You See?
  • Puppy Dog! Puppy Dog! What Can You See?
  • Little Duck, Little Duck, What Can You See?

You’re My Dearest

As indicated by the cover design, this book is brim filled with stunning wintery landscapes touched with festive elements to them too, and they truly are stunning. I mean each turn of the page takes you from one beautiful scene within nature to another and they are breathtakingly brilliant in detail and design. I love that each scene holds nature at its core, introducing little ones to a host of animals as a result. Another awesome detail to this book is the cut outs in the pages that link one scene to another, and truly draw your eye to all of the detail.

The use of rhyming sentences that also link one page to that as you turn the page is a fabulous design element; it keeps the intrigue there as you look to see how the rhyme is completed. The theme throughout the text is that of the love between a parent and child, and the lengths a parent will go to so they ensure their child is safe, warm, happy, and very much loved. Incorporating both Christmas and unwaivering love for your child is such a clever idea for a book, especially as we do love any and every opportunity to show our children how much they mean to us, with Christmas being one of the biggest occasions in a calendar year to express ourselves to our loved ones.

Merry Christmas, My Little Cuddle Bug

The latest title in the You’re My Little series has arrived in our house, and my how we all delighted when we saw it. We have really come to love this series with the embossed style detail afforded to the character of the book, and the cut outs within the pages that ensure each scene links to the one before or after it in a visual sense, but the text also ensures this by the conclusion of the rhyming sentences found within this gorgeous board book being found at the turn of the page.

We join little cuddle bug as Christmas is arriving, with talk of stockings having been hung and festive treats, and spending time together with family being a vocal point too. The book shares the message of Christmas being a time for giving, and the joy that comes from doing so, and then concludes with a beautiful and emotive conclusion too. The sentiment throughout is one that is uplifting, enriching, and filled with warmth – and that is perfect symmetry for you will want to snuggle up and enjoy this one with little ones in the build up to Christmas day.

Noisy Christmas (My First Touch and Feel Sound Book)

Who doesn’t love a book with the option to interact and get noises from it? We do too, and little ones have delighted at being able to engage with this book at mine since I received a copy through the post. This is such a brilliant addition to what is already an utterly fabulous series for little ones to enjoy, and being able to offer a Christmas title, in the style you’d be familiar with as a result of having the earlier titles, makes for the most perfect gift and a beautiful way to see out the year too.

The publishers have gone all out with the design of this book, which includes clips of well known festive songs (in a classical style) and also sound clips of Christmassy content like Santa’s laugh! I mean what more do you need? It is truly the most adorable, full of festivities, fabulous book and will be cherished by the little ones who receive this book. There are photos of all sorts of Christmas content providing the illustrative content, and punchy short sentences detailing all those things we do in preparation for Christmas day. This encourages little ones to learn about all sorts of Christmas related things and activities. The musical aspects of this book fill you with joy to listen to, and really does get you into the Christmas spirit of things. This truly is such a treat of a book to gift to little ones, and they will want to engage with this over and over again too.
