A Bird a Day with Anne Chadwick (Dec. 18, 2025) • John Muir Laws

What would happen if you drew one bird each day for a year? Join John Muir Laws in conversation with nature journaler and conservation leader Anne Chadwick as she wraps up a full year of drawing a bird a day. Why set a goal like this? Lessons learned? Progress made? How can this help build community and advance conservation? What’s next? (Class session: Thursday 18 December 2025)

Author, illustrator, and photographer Anne Chadwick splits her time between Sebastopol, California, and Vancouver, British Columbia. She is a leader in several organizations devoted to protecting the environment and advancing art and science. Anne’s mantra of “curiosity, compassion, and connection” guides her nature journaling and conservation work. She’s spent 16 years as a volunteer leader of the Truckee Donner Land Trust and Point Blue Conservation Science. As owner of a 140-acre ranch in California’s Sierra Valley, Anne negotiated a conservation easement with the Feather River Land Trust to extinguish development rights in perpetuity. In 2014, her ranch pioneered the “Learning Landscapes” program, which brings school children outdoors to study wildlife, farming, riparian habitat, stream biology, bird migration, nature journaling, and more.
