A Sea Of Stories

I love a short chapter book and I think this is going to be one of my favourites.

Whenever Roo visits Grandpa, she loves exploring the seaside cove near his cottage. But on her latest stay, Grandpa explains that he can’t go down there any more – the path is too steep and overgrown for him to manage. Instead Grandpa tells Roo the stories behind the many objects that fill his house. All of Grandpa’s stories feature the cove and Roo realises that now, even though they’re so close to the sea, Grandpa is cut off from it. Is there anything she can do to bring Grandpa to the place he loves the most?

I love that the book has colour illustrations and I feel this will make the children want to read it more. The illustrations have an Ireland feel about them.

The story is so beautifully written and it has a beautiful message included,

This is great for those children who are developing independence with their reading.

You Only Spy Twice

When I first picked this book I immediately in my mind knew what children at school would love this.. But I knew I needed to read it first.

Agent Harrier must discover the identity of a top-secret file-stealing traitor in the BARK intelligence agency. But something’s happening to the book itself . . . whole pages are repeating, and there’s an ink-deleting weapon threatening to wipe everything out! What’s going on? And will Agent Harrier sniff out the rat before he’s TOTALLY AND PERMANENTLY ERASED?

The book was just so much fun to read, there is action on every page, and the pace of the book is fast. Even though the book is only about 72 pages long ,it’s enough for a whole story. And even the most reluctant reader will like this. Hoping there is more to come.

Pirate Academy Book 3 : Sword Echoes

I absolutely adore this series and I was delighted when I got my hands on book 3.

The Barracudas are at sea in the third thrilling Pirate Academy adventure …

The kids of Barracuda Class are shocked to the core when one of their favourite teachers is revealed to be an agent of the League of True Pirates.

Jacoby tries to make sense of the betrayal – and discovers evidence that one of his own classmates may be LOT P’s next target. Jasmine launches a maverick sailing mission to reunite with her father, but soon finds herself voyaging in highly dangerous waters.

Neo is following a treasure-trail left by his mother, far away from the Academy. At the end of his journey lies an amazing gift: a sword with untold powers that, in the right hands, might just change everything.

This was as good as the previous two books and it carries straight on from book 2. It was great to be back sailing with the crew though there were some twists and turns throughout.

The characters development was fantastic and  the plot is fast paced full of adventure. I can’t wait for my next adventure on the seven seas.
