All of these pieces are contained in the artist’s sketchbooks. I love how most of them come with coloured bands showing the hues used in that piece. They actually meld into the page and become part of the art.
The first two pieces have to be my favourite. I love all animals, but these are my favourites on this page.
Let’s start with the octopus: A very intelligent animal and great at problem solving. A fantastic shape that is extremely versatile. The shape of its body truly lends itself to being depicted in art.
Following this is the frog. I made the following comment to someone the other day: I am not sure what it is about them, specifically, but they are so endearing. Their shape too is something that makes them extremely drawingenic and paintingenic? I am trying to expand the use of photogenic, I am not sure it’s going to catch on. : )
